Pablo Picasso Deux Femmes Nues et une Chat linocut from 1965, from the pencil signed and numbered edition of 50. Original linoleum cut on Arches wove paper. Published by Galerie Louise Leiris. Reference: BLOCH 1851; BAER 1358

The Pablo Picasso Deux Femmes Nues et une Chat (Two Naked Women and a Cat) is a stunning example of Picasso’s linocut technique. Picasso’s nudes were amongst his favorite themes, and this complicated composition is particularly striking. Cleverly using the high contrasts between the black ink and the white paper, Picasso’s linoleum cut incisions create a graphic and almost abstract image. A very low numbered edition, Bloch 1851 is only an edition of 50 signed and numbered.

Linocut or linoleum cuts are always highly sought after Picasso prints. The linocut printing process allows for only a small number of prints to be printed, and often the Picasso linocut editions are relatively low. Many of the Pablo Picasso Linocuts are found in Museum collections across the globe. For the artists graphic works, any Pablo Picasso linocut is a highly collectible item.
