Between 1945 and 1946 Pablo Picasso completed a lithograph series of eight portraits of his muse and lover Francoise Gilot. The series is a variation of Francoise’s face each uniquely composed. Sometimes Francoise is shown with rippling curls, or with straight hair pinned with a bow, or even with a black eye. Always the compositions consist of elegant line sketching, simple but quite expressive. The eight variations of Francoise are a well known series and highly sought after. A low edition of only 50 each makes them difficult to find and notibly collectible.
