Rufino Tamayo Affiche avant Lettre from Las Mujeres Suite is a striking example of the Rufino Tamayo’s original prints. This beautiful color lithograph by Rufino Tamayo exemplifies the Mexican artist’s use of bold and vibrant colors. Tamayo is considered one of the most important artists from Mexico, particularly for bringing Mexican culture and heritage into the mainstream. Unlike the Mexican muralists: Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros, Rufino Tamayo refused to use his art to promote socialist and revolutionary ideals. This choice significantly set him apart from his contemporaries. Tamayo himself once said, “If I have any influence on young artists in my country, it is in the direction of freedom.”
