Frank Stella is one of the most celebrated postwar American Abstract Expressionist painters and sculptors. Originally identifying as a minimalist, Frank Stella’s protractor series of prints and paintings are easily recognized by their geometric forms. Moving away from minimalism in the 1980’s, Frank Stella began working on large scale metal sculptures and wall reliefs. Stella’s art market has been thriving since his retrospective at the Whitney Museum in 2015.
